Simply, the Guigal family is an icon of the Northern Rhone. Etienne Guigal founded the family estate in 1946 in Côtes-Rotie. In 1961, his son Marcel joined him after Etienne suffered from total blindness. Marcel, now with his son Philippe, owns 150Ha of the region’s most respected vineyards and produces the region’s highest rated wines (think of the three Côtes-Rotie La La’s).
Guigal produces a distinct Côtes du Rhône Blanc due to their Northern Rhône mindset. Wines under this general appellation are generally dominated by Grenache Blanc. The Guigals have worked with growers to encourage plantings of Viognier for their Côtes du Rhône Blanc with great success, adding freshness and aromatics to the wine.
Classic white flowers, apricot and acacia notes are on display here. Stunning value.
