Château de Chamirey Mercurey Blanc 2017

The impressive Château de Chamirey was built in the 18th century and overlooks the village of Chamirey. Nowadays, Amaury et Aurore Devillard are the 5th generation of Burgundians, custodians of the domaine. The vineyard is planted covers 37Ha in Mercurey (27 red, 10 white), of which 15 are in Premier Crus appellations.
The Mercurey appellation is located in the Côte Chalonnaise, on the southern border of the Côte de Beaune. Mercurey is about 15km south of Chassagne-Montrachet. Elevation is 230-320m. The soils are similar to the Côte de Beaune, rich in Oxfordian limestone. Being South of Burgundy, the white wines from Mercurey are usually medium bodied.
This Mercurey blanc is sourced from 6 different plots across the village. Aged in 15% new French oak. Quite floral with nice peach characters, and a lovely richness and balanced freshness.
