Vina Ventisquero 'Vertice' 2017
Region: Colchagua - Chile
Varieties: 50% Carmenère ; 50% Syrah
Viña Ventisquero was founded in the late 1990s by Gonzalo Vial and has quickly gone on to become one of the countries top wine producers. This young dynamic winery is full of energy and creativity. With the drive of passionate winemakers, led by Felipe Tosso and aided by John Duval, they are producing wines that are unique and full of characterful.
The grapes for Vertice are sourced from the upper slopes of a hillside vineyard in Apalta, where the difference between night-time and daytime temperatures helps to maintain some of the natural acidity and bright, fresh fruit flavours.
Made with 50% Carmenere and 50% Syrah and aged for 20 months in French (40% new). Aromas of red and blue berries mixed with notes of spices, black pepper, damp earth, oak and a hint of minerality. Powerful on the palate with soft and silky tannins and well balanced with the acidity and a long finish.
