Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2008
Region: Grand Crus Villages - Champagne
Crafted from Chardonnay sourced from the five grand cru villages of Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Chouilly and Cramant, 'Comtes' is only made in exceptional vintages.
This 2008 is just the 37th release of the Comtes, the first being the 1952. Only the cuvée is used, the first most gentle pressing, and the wine is fermented almost entirely in stainless steel, with just 5% going into oak. The wine is then aged for a minimum of 10 years on the lees.
This 2008 Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne is simply breathtaking. It is luxurious, sophisticated, poised and crisp, it has a wonderful toastiness. It is ready to drink now and for many years to come.
