Marc Brédif Vouvray Classic 2009
Region: Vouvray - Loire
Variety: Chenin Blanc
Marc Brédif is one of the great names of the Loire Valley, with an impeccable reputation, some would say a ‘landmark’ of the region. Established in 1893, the Domaine is now the property of the Baron de La Doucette.
The Vouvray region, in the Touraine district of the Loire, is synonymous with the Chenin Blanc variety, from which Vouvray wines are exclusively made. To put it simply, all the best examples of Chenin Blanc in the world come from Vouvray.
The unique chalk-limestone soil is locally named “Tuffeau”, it is the source of the identifiable mineral characters of the local white wines.
Vouvray does not use oak barrels for maturation, Chenin Blanc in the region is all about pure, fresh fruit and high acidity, often balanced with a little residual sugar. This balance enables these wines to age perfectly and develop honey, pear and spice notes.
