Biondi-Santi Rosso di Montalcino 2015
Region: Montalcino - Tuscany
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, owes its existence to Ferruccio Biondi-Santi. Clemente, Ferrucio’s grandfather, planted the first Sangiovese in 1840, but Ferrucio’s dedication to massale selection of and bottling 100% Sangiovese led to its fame. Now on the sixth and seventh generation of winemakers, with Jacopo and his son Tancredi, the Biondi-Santi family continues to produce wines renowned for their extraordinary longevity. Located in the heart of Montalcino, the Tenuta Greppo estate spreads over 25 hectares of vines on soils rich in heavy stones and marl. Brunello is the local name given to Sangiovese. Montalcino is the most renowned town in Tuscany. The warmer, drier climate of Montalcino and the cool breeze it experiences is ideal for Sangiovese.
Traditionally, the Rosso is produced from the estate’s youngest vines, and from those vineyard plots which underline the fruitiness. Aged in Slovenian oak for 12 months.
