Te Mata 'Bullnose' Syrah 2018
Region: Hawke's Bay - NZ
Te Mata is a historical vineyard in NZ, first planted in 1892. Today, Te Mata Estate still uses those same vineyard in Hawke’s Bay. It is still family owned, the Buck and Morris families, purchased the estate in 1974, they are the two families behind the modern interpretation of this historic New Zealand estate. More vineyards have been planted since under their leadership and Te Mata has placed itself in the elite producers in NZ.
Hawke’s Bay, NZ’s second largest wine region, sits on the East coast of the Northern Island, it benefits from a temperate maritime climate with low rainfall, due to the rain shadow from mountains to the west.
Bullnose 2018 is a superb Syrah, with rich aroma of cinnamon, pepper, ripe raspberry and black cherry. The tannins are refined with plum and boysenberry at its core.
