Wittmann '100 Hügel' Weißer Burgunder 2019
Region: Rheinhessen - Germany
Variety: Weisser Burgunder (Pinot Blanc)
The Wittmann family and their fore-bearers have been making wine in the town of Westhofen in Germany’s Rheinhessen wine region since 1663. Today, Philipp Wittmann is in charge. A pioneer of organic viticulture, his father Günter put the estate on an organic footing being certified since 1990. Philipp then took the step to become certified biodynamic in 2004. Intensive vineyard maintenance, low yields and uncompromising viticulture is the only way to produce exceptional wines for Weingut Wittmann (Weingut stands for ‘Wine Estate’ in German).
‘100 Hügel’ stands for ‘100 Hills’ in German. The grapes are sourced primarily from the Wittmann’s Vineyard with input from local friend’s organic vineyards. This 2019 Pinot Blanc (Weisser Burgunder in German) is all about freshness and elegance, with mandarin aromas and playful, creamy texture.
